PT Watercraft ("we", "us") runs this shop from Port Townsend, Washington. We collect as little personal information as we can get away with, and we don't sell or share it for marketing. This page explains what we collect, why, and what happens to it.
What we collect
When you place an order, our payment processor Stripe collects your name, email address, shipping address, and payment details on our behalf. Your card number goes directly to Stripe — it never touches our servers and we never see it. After payment, Stripe passes your name, email, and shipping address back to us so we can fulfill your order.
If you email us, we'll have whatever you send us — we use it only to reply and help you.
Your shopping cart
Your cart is stored in your own browser (using local storage), not on our servers. Until you check out, we don't know what's in it. It stays on your device until you clear it or complete a purchase.
How we use your information
- Fulfilling orders — shipping your items, emailing your order confirmation, and delivering download links for digital products.
- Support — answering questions and resolving problems with orders.
- Record keeping — we keep order records as required for tax and accounting purposes.
Placing an order normally gets you transactional emails only (order confirmations and download links) — we will never add you to our newsletter just for buying something, with one exception: if you purchase a PT Eleven or PT Spear kit, we add you to the PT Watercraft Newsletter so we can reach you quickly with updates that may be critical to your build. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing never affects your order or support.
Payment processing
Payments are handled by Stripe, which processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. Stripe may retain transaction records as required by financial regulations.
Analytics
We use a self-hosted analytics tool (Matomo) running on our own server to understand how the site is used — page views, rough visitor counts, and which pages are popular. It is configured cookieless: it sets no tracking cookies, and the data stays on our server. No analytics data is shared with any third party.
Cookies
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The shop uses your browser's local storage for your cart (see above). Stripe may set cookies on its own checkout pages for security and fraud prevention.
Who we share information with
- Stripe — to process your payment.
- Shipping carriers — your name and address, so they can deliver your order.
That's it. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we don't share it with advertisers. We would disclose information if legally required to.
How long we keep it
We keep order information (name, email, shipping address, what you bought) for as long as we need it for tax, accounting, and service purposes. Download links for digital products expire automatically after a period of time.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (except records we're legally required to keep, such as tax records). Email us at info@ptwatercraft.com and we'll take care of it.
Children
This shop is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
